Track Work Tuesday: I never miss a beat, I’m lightening on my feet. ⚡️⚡️ 7 x 800m repeats at East Bank Club with Coach Nancy plus 400m repeats on my own at the Lakeshore Park Track! My slowest pace was 3:51 and my fastest paces were 3:40! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ It’s funny how a coach can say something simple like “Drive that leg back” and the run falls into place. 😅💕👟💨
8 miles in Total!

John took this awesome video of me shooting - look at that satisfied grin! :* :D

That is so interesting!  I got a little lesson in gun politics in the UK. And oh my, Cambodia!  That must have been amazing.

I will give rifles another chance. :) I haven’t done any target practice outdoors and that would be so nice to do some day!

{Week 12 of Training for the TCS New York City Marathon}

WOW.  Just wow.

Everything about last week was rose-tinged because it was my birthday on Friday.

But first, here are the deets on my weekly training.

Monday:

4.23 miles + a Pole Dancing Class (in real time here!)

Tuesday:

7.76 miles + Hard Pressed Weight Lifting

I ran 7.76 mile with a 3.5 mile time trial with my track coach.  This shit was SO INTENSE (click for real time notes!).  The run was perfectly wonderful but my Hard Pressed lifting was not so much.  I didn’t fuel correctly and when I started moving weight, I felt so cold inside (like actually cold, not Grinch cold).

I tried every “rah-rah, you can do it bullshit” but it was like someone cut a hole in my body and let me bleed out.  I’m hoping that next week will be completely different and if it isn’t just talking to my strength coach about what I should do next.

I skipped my usual three hour pole-dancing session to be smart about recovery, which I am proud of because literally until the last minute, I kept telling John I could do it. :D

Wednesday

Rest Day

Thursday

8.44 Miles + Hard Pressed Weight Lifting + three hours of Pole Dancing

This day, I kept Uber in business.  And it was the complete opposite of Tuesday’s session.  I feel like I am getting stronger and my coach has given me some gold stars - oh, how I love my gold stars.

I would magically like to be stronger and fitter so I can run faster and let’s be honest, do some hella crazy spin moves when I dance but as John reminds me Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Btw, my dance instructor is beautiful.

I’m also ridiculously obsessed with the Top Gun Soundtrack now. :D

Friday

4 mile run - I ran to see my friend Chelsey for a birthday lunch.  Put a real smile in my step!

Saturday

6 mile run.

This was a last minute decision to switch out my long run and I felt silly having woken up early to run fewer miles.

I wanted to see what a full week of Hansons felt like with all the mileage in the bank before a long run.  I also wanted to see what it felt like to wake up at 5:30 on a Sunday instead of just a Saturday and put my body through the same rigors I would face race day.

I think next Saturday might switch back to my normal long run but we shall see!

Sunday Long Run: 15.22 miles

You can read about my awesome long run here was followed by the only thing better than a post-long run shower:  my birthday trip to a shooting range!

I was supposed to only run 10 but went longer and I’m okay with that.

My weekly mileage was supposed to be 38 miles but I ran 45.86 - that’s my highest mileage to date!  I had four hours of dance this week AND 1 hour of lifting.

I have made no secret about the fact that I want to run 65 miles a week once even though the plan peaks at 57.  But hours, miles, reps, and such will all increase in time and I am PLEASED AS PUNCH at how well this week went after Tuesday’s tough weight-lifting session.

How was your marathon training lovely people?
